Privacy at Kog

Last updated 18 September 2026

Kog is a Valyou app for team questions, ideas and confidence voting. Contact hello@valyou.me with privacy questions or requests about your information.

Information used by the app

You can participate as a guest. Kog creates a guest identifier to keep your access, team memberships and votes together. If you save your space or sign in with Google, Google provides your account identifier, email address and basic profile information. Kog requests only basic sign-in permissions; it does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive or contacts.

Kog stores the teams you create or join, questions, submitted ideas, complete voting ballots, results and links between rounds. Your display name and optional department, role and tenure are also stored if you supply them. Optional profile details are copied into a ballot when you submit it so reports reflect that round.

Who can see information

Question participants receive the session information needed to take part and see its results. Hosts can prepare solutions and access aggregate reports. Team questions require team membership. People with an invitation code can join the relevant team or an open question, subject to its access rules, so share codes with intended participants.

Participant names are not attached to ideas in the shared interface. Individual ballots are not shown in participant or host reports. Overall averages and score spread are shown for any number of ballots. Department, role and tenure breakdowns are hidden when fewer than three ballots contribute to a group. This is privacy in the app's interface, not absolute anonymity: authorised database administrators can access stored records, including the identifiers associated with ideas and ballots.

Group owners and delegated group administrators can see member names and account references to manage access. One-off meeting hosts can see their attendee roster. These controls do not reveal individual votes or identify idea authors. Removing access preserves earlier ideas, ballots and results; it is not a data-deletion request.

Small groups can make opinions identifiable even without names. For example, with two voters, someone who knows their own score may work out the other score from the average. The wording of an idea can also identify its author. Do not treat Kog as a fully anonymous reporting channel.

Services and browser storage

Vercel hosts the app. Supabase provides authentication and the database; the current database is hosted in Seoul, South Korea. Google handles Google sign-in. These services process information necessary to deliver and secure their services, including technical request information.

To help diagnose failures, the app sends limited error categories to Kog’s hosting service and database, such as a screen failing to load or a voting request failing. These diagnostic events do not include question or idea text, scores, names, account identifiers, error messages, authentication tokens or invitation links. The hosting provider may separately process technical request metadata.

Your browser stores sign-in information and unfinished voting scores. Draft scores are sent to Kog's database only when you submit your complete ballot. Clearing browser data can remove access to an unsaved guest space. Saving that space with Google lets you return from another device.

History and requests

Kog retains account, team and session records to support ongoing access, result history and linked rounds. Cancelling a question does not automatically erase its database records. Contact hello@valyou.me for questions about access, correction or deletion. Avoid putting confidential or sensitive personal information into a question or idea unless you intend to share it with the people taking part.
